GUEST OF HONOR

Camae Ayewa (Moor Mother)

Camae Ayewa (Dennis) also known by her stage name Moor Mother is a national and international touring musician, composer, poet, visual artist, curator, social activist and USC professor. Ayewa’s music is a statement for the future and a statement to exist, while focusing on the recovery and preservation of communal Black memories and histories that are pulled away from the white narratives that dominate mainstream culture. Her work uses Afrofuturism as a narrative tool, recognizing its ability to empower marginalized Black and Indigenous people, and acting as an agitator in shaping Afrodiasporan past and future narratives.
